- Description of the osteoporosis monograph titled "Strong and Sure: Focus on Osteoporosis." A Continuing Education Curriculum for Nurses offers 2 contact hours of continuing education credit. This program was developed by a blue ribbon panel, comprised of representatives from 6 of the nation's leading nursing organizations including the ENS Society. The course is scientifically grounded in teaching, diagnosis, and treatment methods, and it highlights the most current statistics concerning osteoporosis. Medicare CPT codes for bone mineral density testing, osteoporosis management decision tree, facts on osteoporosis quiz, quality of life questionnaire, Zung self-rating depression scale, case studies, and a list of additional bone health resources are included. Characteristics of the disease, nursing assessment and diagnosis, and management principles will guide all nurses who care for patients at risk for osteoporosis. The kit also contains information sheets to share with patients on how they can better care for their bone health.
This kit will be mailed to all ENS members at no charge You can make a tax-deductible donation of $5 to obtain additional education kits from the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses' (NAON) office, or you can purchase additional kits and/or take the CE post-test online (www.orthonurse.org). All donations will be applied to NAON's Options program, which provides osteoporosis prevention education for high school students.
